With an unconventional approach to perfume making, Geza Schoen has gained a cult following in the creation of niche fragrances. He began collecting men's fragrances as a teenager, and trained as an apprentice perfumer at Haarmann & Reimer fragrance company's head office in Holzminden. He started at the age of 21. Geza's passion for perfumery led him to collaborate with brands such as Boudicca, Ormonde Jayne, Baldessarini, and Paper Passion throughout his career. Diesel's D fragrance marked a turning point in the early years of his career. In 2006 Geza created the scent Molecule 01 that quickly became popular worldwide, and he founded his brand Escentric Molecules that same year. In Molecule 01, Geza uses only one ingredient, ISO E Super, which sets it apart and challenges traditional perfumery techniques where ingredients are mixed to create scents.

INTERVIEW
A scent that creates interpersonal attraction intrigues me. Molecule 01 is particularly effective in this regard as ISO E Super stimulates one of our five pheromone receptors. That is why people smell it on the street, run after you and ask you what you are wearing.
Great complexity does not appeal to me. In order to create a special iris scent for my wife, I mixed ISO E Super with a large amount of iris. Due to the success of this simple idea, two more variants have been developed. There is something truly unique about each of them. As of now, Molecule+ is available with notes of patchouli, iris, and mandarin.
First and foremost, I simply like to smell. In addition to being very open to innovation, I find it particularly thrilling to learn about and smell new fragrance raw materials. I have travelled far in my life to discover and learn more about new cultures and lives that have inspired new smells.
These days, hundreds of interested parties apply for a training position at Symrise in Holzminden, so the chances of getting accepted are extremely slim. In this case, I cannot really recommend my training route. It is also possible to apply to perfume schools such as Givaudan's Perfumery School or ISIPCA in France who provide good training.
