Through otherworldly ceramics, Faye Papargyropoulou finds new ways to see and shape the world. After beginning her studies in arts and design, she switched to industrial design and worked several years in advertising until she felt the need to work with her hands. In 2023, Faye opened her own studio, Ceramic 47, where she finds freedom to focus on her projects. “I work primarily by hand, keeping my practice grounded in a direct, tactile relationship with clay,” she says. Faye is mainly inspired by natural forms and nature itself, as well as the dynamics between people and contemporary social conditions. “Human relationships and the emotional landscape behind them play a central role in my work, shaping both the process and the final pieces,” she adds.

INTERVIEW
I aim to reveal the beauty of our world, nature, human emotion and shared experiences. I explore how we relate to one another, and how these connections shape us both as individuals and as a society. I am also drawn to the beauty of imperfection found in what is real and alive.
My work is deeply influenced by my connection to Greece. The landscape, light and natural rhythms of my environment inform my sensitivity to material, texture and form. There is a strong sense of grounding in my practice, a dialogue between nature, memory and the cultural presence of where I come from.
Ceramics have taught me to slow down and wait for the unexpected with curiosity and joy. It has helped me move beyond the expectations of the mind, into a space of openness and discovery.
The first pivotal moment in my career was when I realised I wanted to focus entirely on sculptural ceramics. That gave me a clear direction and sense of purpose. The second equally significant milestone was my selection as one of ten emerging artists to present my work at Ceramic Brussels 2026.
