This sculpture by Nalini Mehta was carved on the reverse of a clear acrylic panel using a high-speed drill at varying depths. The incisions were coloured and the panel mounted in a wooden light box. Drawing on a technique refined by the artist over nearly eight decades, the work depicts four vividly coloured birds among flowering branches.
