Constructed entirely of bent cane, this bench moves the material beyond its usual role as a structural frame. Its form follows the behaviour of the cane, rather than being imposed upon it. The cane is left unpeeled so that its knots, colours and charred marks are preserved, and the traces of bending can be perceived. The bench was designed by Maria Tyakina and crafted by Ajay Gour for Shakti Design Residency.
