Camel

This sculpture by Kazuhito Kawai was hand built from porcelain mixed with glaze and ceramic pigments. Bead-like glaze elements were applied to the surface and fused during high-temperature firing, creating a richly textured finish. Inspired by a camel-coloured coat worn by the artist’s mother, the work evokes memories and emotions triggered by visual and tactile qualities.
