This vessel by Diego Valles was coil built from white clay. The surface was burnished with a jasper stone, and painted with natural pigments using a fine human-hair brush. Combining ancestral Mata Ortiz pottery techniques with an architectural sculptural form, the work explores balance and movement through open curves.
