This sculpture by Xiaodong Bian was created by applying Dehua porcelain slip over a silicone mould, allowing gravity to define the form. A calligraphy brush was used to refine the shape of the droplets. Bisque firing was followed by high-temperature firing, which gave the surface a perlescent finish. Evoking a splashing torrent, the piece explores the dual nature of water, both tangible and elusive.
