Earth vase

Exhibited in AN ATELIER ALIVE

Decorative objects

This sculpture by Shishi San was shaped from recycled cardboard and covered using tufting techniques traditionally associated with rug making. The design was drawn freehand onto the canvas before shearing and assembly. Representing life and the passage of time, the work depicts a flower emerging from an earth-toned vase. Its flexible petals can be arranged freely, suggesting movement shaped by the passing wind.
