Sou

This piece was made with thread and lacquer using the kanshitsu technique. This innovative method creates a flowing movement in the thread, which is coated in layers of lacquer, giving it texture and shine. The piece is finished with kawarinuri, a traditional Japanese lacquering technique, using pigment and tin powder.
