This piece was made from plant fibres and lacquer using the kanshitsu technique. The plant fibres are covered with layers of lacquer, allowing the surface to ripple with a unique texture and gloss. Finally, it is finished with maki-e and raden using gold powder, silver powder, tin powder and shells.
