Hishigi tea caddy

This work was born from a commission requesting a tea caddy with dents and distortions in various places. Based on the Kawataro-gata tea caddy form, the piece is constructed using the kanshitsu dry lacquer technique, built solely from linen cloth and lacquer. The colour is tamari-iro, translating as pooled lacquer tone, and the dented areas create subtle variations in light and shadow within that same colour.
