This coloured porcelain vessel was created by joining five nerikomi pattern slices, the largest of which comprises a soft fade from light gray to white, to form an elongated rectangle flat. The assembled rectangle was then draped over a mould to create the initial arabesque shape, and then modified to form wavy undulating curves suggesting lightness and movement. A small section at one of the four corners was embellished with a gold leaf rectangle.
