This is a series of hand pinched tableware referencing 18th century Sèvres porcelain. The delicate floral motifs of the tradition are reproduced with loose, gestural brushwork, giving a polite source material an unexpected energy. Each cup is formed by hand, producing a quietly irregular shape. The printed patterns sit slightly out of register, indifferent to the edges of the form. The series is decorative in origin but unruly in practice.
