Ox in the woods

Discovering that 2021 was the Year of the Ox, Joe Cunningham used a series of ink-drenched printer’s rags to form a rough outline of an ox floating in the middle of a square white background. The ox seems lost in the woods in this stitched drawing of sticks, trees and leaves. The roughness of the multi-coloured rags lends uncertainty to the piece.
