This large-scale photographic pop-up tableau is made by hand from images taken in the Stone Forest in Yunnan. The embroidered base anchors scenes referencing the Sani, a subgroup of the Yi, and the legend of Ashima, still sung across generations. Red characters follow the calligraphy of Lung Yun, the artist’s great-grandfather, who named the park in 1931.
