Tephra Rift

This porcelain sculpture forms a solid horizontal ridge, tapering at each end like a fragment of reef. Mixed with burnout materials, it has cavities, nodules and clustered textures. Wood fired in a soda kiln, its surface shows chalky white and pale grey with rust, charcoal and deep brown pooling in crevices.
