Watering I

This sterling silver vessel takes the form of a pitcher, and centres on a dynamic form embodying the flow of water. In metalwork, artists widely use chasing to define surface contours. Because of a disability in the left hand, however, Donghyun Kim could not make full use of this technique. Instead, he divided each layer into small sections and hammer-formed them one by one before being joining them together. This technical feature gave broad, flowing movement to the surface of the metal vessel.
