Amaltheia Triptych
This ceramic wall piece is made up of three parts, a round central piece and two half-circles on either side. Its flat shape is inspired by Greek semedakia, traditional woven doilies passed down from mother to daughter as handmade heirlooms. These elements are meant to resemble both natural forms and bone-like structures, connecting the piece to the myth of the Horn of Amaltheia, a symbol of abundance. The work is shaped using the slab technique, then carved and detailed while semi-dry. After drying, it is bisque fired, dipped in a white matte glaze and fired again to create a strong, smooth and durable finish.
