Broken Hart

This vase is made of walnut wood. Its wall thickness is only 3mm. The whole life of this piece of wood can be explored, from the heart, the centre, to the natural outer edges and we can read what the tree has experienced. Its heart, broken by a crack, is carefully stitched with fine silver by Jo Maurer. The inner tensions have also deformed the vase as it dried.
