Anima plate 138

Anima is a series of tableware handcrafted from food waste and urushi, or Japanese lacquer. Kosuke Araki made this work to encourage us to rethink our relationship with nature. Bringing food waste back on the table, this tableware aims to serve up an opportunity to reflect on the numerous issues around eating and waste. The making process for this plate includes mixing, forming, hardening, sanding, lacquering and/or polishing. This piece was finished with Japanese lacquer and it is suitable for dry food items.
