
The Murex is a sculpture made of white earthenware that has been gilded with fine gold. "The shell is particularly well suited to reproduction in ceramic because of its complex texture. The gold applied to the inside of the murex stays true to the textural contrast of the real murex, while giving the shell a precious character," explains Catherine Azoulai.
