In this series of brushes, some are made from plant-based materials through steaming and drying the material at least ten times, before hammering it more than 5,000 times. Rice straw, silver grass, arrowroot and reeds are used. There are also some brushes made from animal hair and these are created by removing the natural oil over the course of a year by pressing the hair repeatedly with a stone. These include wool, cow ear hair, weasel hair, goat hair and horse tail hair. The brush handles are made from peach seeds or bamboo.
