Zenne and Çelebi
The traditional female characters are called Zenne. The Çelebi character is a well-educated son of a wealthy family. These figures were made by carving translucent leather with the traditional nevrekan knife. The leather is then painted with water-based paint and Chinese-ink, using 0.3 mm sable hair brushes.
