Stonelake rug with Tabi slippers

This round accent rug was decorated with a woven pattern by a special felt constructing technique developed by Vanda Róbert. It is based on the unique property of felting, when the woven fibre structure is embedded and fused with the homogeneous plain wool surface by hand fulling, as if the braids had grown organically from it. The carpet was wet felted with resist method, meaning that the whole item was felted in one piece, without cuts and stitches. Tabi felt slippers are named after their Japanese glove shoe relatives. Created without sewing, these barefoot shoes are reversible. Felt slippers are lightweight and flexible, and also have healing properties – they are recommended for joint pain and provide good blood circulation.
