Little Manhattan

This lacquered wood panel is part of Marie's series on the theme of cities. Here we see the buildings of Manhattan silhouetted against a sky of patinated copper. Deep black lacquer evokes rust, and bronze powders become autumn leaves. Through the skilful use of colour and graphic elements, the lacquered pieces amplify Marie's impressions of the city's special atmosphere.
