A suspended chain composed of irregular, open cast brass links forms the Shackles sculpture. Each link varies in shape and size, with rough, textured surfaces. The arrangement of the links creates a sense of movement. Wagner Trindade draws inspiration from the history of Africans brought to Brazil and the physical chains that once restrained them. For him, this sculpture is a personal reflection on ancestry, resilience, and the enduring presence of cultural traditions.
