Su

Su is the japanese word for nest. This work is made from hawthorn twigs that Kazuhito harvests, cleans, de-thorns and leaves to dry for over a year. The twigs are then patiently tied one by one using waxed linen twine. The green grass Kazuhito grew in his back garden. He waits until the grass is tender to manipulate and embroider the paper. Each circle in gold leaf is also embroidered with grass. The grass eventually matures and becomes a golden, natural colour. The contrast with the gold leaf becomes more evident.
