Heeled Blue Wedge Form with side opening

This clay ceramic sculpture was built with coils slabs of terra sigillata clay. The raku sculpture was smoke fired and decorated with a light blue finish. Alison Kay draws much of her inspiration from aerodynamic forms, plants and architecture, finding a keen interest in the sharpness of straight lines and tautness of curves that spin from them. Each sculptural piece is built and inspired by a previous one, adding subtle changes that brings the creation in new directions.
