Large ash vessel V

Large ash vessel V is inspired by windswept woodlands and the beauty of found timber. The inherent beauty of wood motivates Anthony to push his skills to new heights. Discovering the grain, and the way it affects the form of each piece, is central to his process. Working with fresh unseasoned wood is a journey of exploration, in which the surface reveals the story of the form. This English ash, with coloured heartwood, was sourced from a large tree that fell in a field not far from Anthony's home near Helston. It can take up to a year between felling a tree and completing a piece, as Anthony turns the wood when fresh and green, which allows the piece to move and shape as it dries naturally.
