This dish is coated with ottchil (Korean lacquer). It is comprised of a round piece of copper plate, the coat is applied to the centre using a hemp cloth to create a textured appearance. The shape is made by pressing the copper plate into a ribbed cast, after which the dish is hammered to give a smooth finish. It was painted with multiple colour layers of refined ottchil.
