Black ash
The bowl was turned from an ash tree of over 100 years old. The ledge and the exterior of the bowl have fine grooves to optically emphasise the grain of the annual rings in the wood. After that, the shell was dyed, waxed and the inside dyed black. With a special technique, the annual rings were worked out in a bright white. The surface was then repeatedly varnished to get this high gloss basin.
