Vibrant chawan tea bowl

This is a new Asahiyaki style created by the 16th generation Hosai with the poured, light blue "Geppaku" (or moon-white) glaze. This work expresses a modern interpretation of the aesthetic sense of "kirei sabi" that is the basis of Asahiyaki. The vivid light blue of the Geppaku glaze contrasts with the primitive scarlet of the rough clay burnt by the flames. The white clay connects these contrasts to create a modern and unique expression.
