Large wedding belts were traditionally worn by high society women until the mid-20th century. They were used to wrap the bride's abdomen. A variety of sophisticated decors are used, such as this one which is extremely difficult to weave. It is inspired by 17th century iconography, representing the eight branches of a star, emblem of the city of Fez founded in 808.
