Mappamondo

The glass used for the mosaic tiles of this work is a precious kind, produced exclusively in Venetian furnaces and is called Venetian smalto. The vibrant blue of the sea, contrasting with the oxidized cooper, was obtained by mixing many different shades of blue tiles.
