Pine needle weave, Flower basket

This piece was made at a time when Noboru Fujinuma was experimenting with various techniques. The oblong body of the vase, in a rich burnt sienna colour, is meticulously crafted with a pine needle weave. The dynamic form of the handles on the sides contrasts strikingly with the intricate details of the body.
