Luthier Ottar Kåsa based in Norway & Norwegian fellow Jake Fineberg
Ottar began playing the Hardanger fiddle (the traditional instrument of Norway) at age 11 and began making fiddles and other string instruments in 2005. His workshop is in Bø in Telemark, Norway’s centre for Hardanger fiddle making since the early 19th century.
London-born woodworker Jake also plays the Hardanger fiddle and studied folk art at the University of South-Eastern Norway Rauland. He makes instruments mostly with hand tools, local materials and traditional techniques. Jake is fascinated by the relationship between music and musical instrument technology.
