Woodcarver Antonin Martineau based in France & Belgian fellow Nicolas de la Barre d’Erquelinnes
Antonin expresses character and emotion in his wood sculptures through texture, folds and fine detail. Working with wood since childhood, he studied at École Boulle in Paris and at art Cademia in Ortisei with French and Italian masters, aware of the importance of shared know-how in his craft. In 2019 he was recognised as Un des Meilleurs Ouvriers de France for his work.
Belgian artist Nicolas studied management and business before a period of soul-searching inspired him to devote himself to woodcarving and craftsmanship. He studied cabinetmaking and woodcarving at the Ricardo do Espirito Santo Silva Foundation in Portugal and was a Homo Faber Young Ambassador in 2022 and 2024.
