Specialised in a multitude of jewellery making techniques, namely stone setting, goldsmithery, and intricate metal wire work, Gioia Clavenzani and Ivano Ghinelli have been practising their craft for decades. This beginners course is open for all, no previous experience is necessary as they will open up their studio to share the fundamental notions and techniques of wire knitting, wire crochet as well as finger knitting. Participants will be provided with the opportunity to practice the techniques learnt, and will come away with either a wire pendant or wire bracelet at the end of this short experience.

Participants will also be taught how to shape and build more complex pieces, including a tubular bracelet and a pendant, and will be offered the opportunity to acquire hands-on experience creating such pieces.

This beginners course is open all and no previous experience is necessary as they will open up their studio over three days to share the history and key techniques of wire working, in particular wire knitting and wire crochet. Aside from learning and practising how to craft and shape jewellery, participants will be provided with insights into how to create conceptual pieces, how to deal with mistakes, and will study and finalise their own personal piece of jewellery as part of the course.
