Visit a working boatyard near Bergen

The art of Norwegian boatbuilding

During this tour you will be taken on a journey tracing the history of traditional Norwegian rowing boats called Oselvar. Visitors will also learn all about the boatbuilding process, which has been passed down for many generations. For several hours each week, tourists are welcome to visit the boatyard, talk to the boatbuilders and watch them work. The boatyard also has an exhibition on the first floor showing the thousand-year history of building and using small vessels. The experience includes a short film showing the production process, starting from the selection of the right timber. Individual visits: every weekday 1-3pm, no booking required. Group visits: every weekday 1-3pm, no booking required for groups of up to 5 people. Visits on weekends must be booked in advance and are for minimum 10 people, 15 euros per person.
