The three entities within the monumental complex of the Real Fabbrica di Capodimonte – the ancient factory, the Caselli de Sanctis Institute and the Museum of Porcelain – represent a unique system safeguarding the heritage of Capodimonte porcelain. A visit to the Real Fabbrica, in the middle of the Capodimonte Royal Wood on the hills overlooking Naples, is a chance to see both the old workshops, with the impressive furnaces dating back to the 18th century, and the modern ones, where skilled artisans still hand down their knowledge to new generations trained in the institute. The factory visit passes through the rooms of the Museo Didattico della Porcellana. Tours are held Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm and Saturday and Sunday only upon reservation. Concession prices are available for under 18s and groups of more than 15 people. You may also book an interactive workshop on top of the tour, for an extra cost.
