Tour a bookbinding atelier specialised in marbled papers

In the historic shop and workshop of Antica Legatoria Ofer in Campo Santo Stefano, right in the very heart of Venice, new management is continuing the art of paper decoration and bookbinding. Antica Legatoria Ofer, known for its marbled papers decorated with the woodblock printing technique that uses wood or rubber blocks, continues to practise this time-honoured craft and create original paper products. You will see the artisans making notebooks, bindings, embellishing book covers and other objects. With a bit of luck, you will see a large cardboard-cutting guillotine in action or an imposing cast-iron press, used to firmly glue the covers to the body of the books. Please note that this visit is free and can accommodate up to 6 people.
