Founded in Cowes in 1790, British sailmaker Ratsey & Lapthorn combines specialised hand sewing, ropework and finishing techniques to create strong and durable sails and sewn objects. During the live demonstration at Homo Faber 2026, Matt Robinson of Ratsey & Lapthorn will perform traditional sailmaking techniques at the sailmaker’s bench, including hand roping, rat tailing, setting brass rings, diamond stitching and leathering.
