Revealing an 18th-century painting through restoration

Open Care specialises in the conservation and restoration of artworks, with dedicated workshops covering a wide range of artistic materials and periods. During the live demonstration at Homo Faber 2026, restorer Federica Savioni will work on The Calling of Saint Matthew (1752) by Giovanni Paolo Panini, from the Museo Poldi Pezzoli in Milan. Visitors will observe different stages of the restoration, from cleaning the pictorial surface and filling areas of loss to the chromatic reintegration of the painting.
