Murano glass: the art of engraving

AAV Barbini is the oldest operating Murano workshop specialising in glass engraving and Venetian mirrors, preserving and reinterpreting techniques passed down through generations of the Barbini family. During the live demonstration at Homo Faber 2026, Nicola Barbini will engrave glass using an electric lathe. Through precise carving, incising and etching, visitors will see decorative designs gradually come to life on the glass surface.
