Macrame making classes in Lisbon

with Vasco Águas

Learn to tye the macramé knot

Vasco, also known as the “Bored bearded man” creates modern macramé pieces, a form of textile produced by using knotting techniques. It used to be taught at school in Portugal, not anymore, so Vasco organises workshops to transmit this art. Participants are taught how to tie the right knot, distinguish between sisal and cotton cords. They learn the basic principles from which all macramé pieces are built, from the simplest to the most complex and receive tips on the most suitable raw materials to use depending on the piece. Everyone takes home the wall panel they created in the hope that this is the beginning not the end of their macramé journey.
