Discover scissor making in Sheffield

Since 1902 Ernest Wright has been making scissors and shears for tailors, sewists, embroiderers, quilters, chefs, hobbyists and industrial users. A lot has changed since the heyday of manufacturing but with the new owners able to pass on the heritage of this ancient art, in 2020 Ernest Wright won the UK Heritage Crafts Association’s President’s Award for Endangered Crafts. Ernest Wright warmly welcomes visitors during its operating hours to observe scissor making in action. Tours must be booked in advance via email specifiying the desired date and time of your visit.
