Bringing intricate inlays back to light

Open Care specialises in the conservation and restoration of artworks, with dedicated workshops covering a wide range of artistic materials and periods. During the live demonstration at Homo Faber 2026, restorer Emiliana Bianchi will work on an inlaid cabinet in ivory, walnut and boxwood dating from the late 17th to early 18th century. Visitors will observe different stages of the restoration, from cleaning the surface and filling areas of loss to the chromatic reintegration of the piece.
