A contemporary chapter in bookbinding

Spanish bookbinder Luis Mínguez Serrano restores historic book covers and also devises new ones for contemporary books. Together with his son and business partner Gonzalo, he explores the creative possibilities of leather bookbinding. During the live demonstration at Homo Faber 2026, Luis and Gonzalo will present techniques including gilding, embossing and leather marquetry. Working side-by-side, they will offer visitors an up close view of the processes behind their contemporary bindings and show how traditional bookbinding skills can be applied to new creations.
