Visit a mosaic workshop near Northampton

This tour is a rare opportunity to learn the art of traditional Florentine pietra dura (a form of hard stone mosaics) from Thomas Greenaway, who is based in rural South Northamptonshire and is the only person in the United Kingdom producing works of art in this medium. The tour includes an introduction to pietra dura followed by a tour of the workshop showing the stones and processes of how a mosaic is made. Thomas will provide a short demonstration of cutting the stone with the traditional chestnut bow saw, you will then have the chance to try it for yourself! And why not end with an excellent lunch at the popular local pub in the village.
