Glass fusing exquisite tableware
- Christine started as a designer
- She taught herself the art of glass fusing
- She makes tableware for fine dining restaurants
Having studied visual communication and industrial design, Christine Mühlhan-Korner discovered glass fusing at an exhibition and was captivated by the technique and all the possibilities it offered. She decided to teach herself the art of glass fusing to combine her knowledge of design and her new-found love of glass. Thoughtful reading, practice and meeting glass artists brought her to open her own studio: she now specialises in making luxury one-of-a-kind glass tableware for prestigious restaurants and hotels as well as for private individuals. Experimentation and curiosity for the almost infinite possibilities of glass are central to her work that is meant to be not only visually perfect, but also the functional stepping stone for chefs to create their culinary art.

INTERVIEW
My basic material, glass, is always colourless. My technique is to create individual patterns with special colours and shades and then fuse them in the glass. In addition, I process real gold and palladium. Each piece is unique.
Colours and precious metals were used in ancient Egypt where glass fusing originated. The techniques I have developed make for contemporary looks that find expression in modern forms. All my products meet the high standards of distinctive design and durability.
The quality of my products is enormously important. A certain robustness is a basic requirement for use in the kitchen – my pieces are not looked at in showcases but are placed on fine dining tables in restaurants with discerning guests.
The most beautiful thing about my profession is the creativity and the almost infinite possibilities of processing glass. I love working with customers to create individual one-of-a-kind tableware. My pieces are the canvases for chefs and their culinary art.
